What trail running means to Dawn
After years of road running, I welcome the opportunity to set aside my watch and pace charts, the worries about my performance, and just focus on the stretch of trail in front of me. Letting go of internal and external distractions, and finding the rhythms of my feet and breath, feeling the flow of the trail, until I discover I’m running with a huge grin on my face. And finally, an amazing community of friends and fellow runners, endless adventures and fresh challenges, and travels to new, beautiful places that I can explore with nothing more than my own two feet.

Dawn’s most memorable/proud run/race
I am definitely proud of Javelina Jundred 2018, which was my first 100 mile race. I was stoked to have a sub-24 finish, win Master’s Female and snag 1st Place Team with my partner, Justin, but the best part was being supported by the greatest coaches, crew, and pacers that a runner could ever have: Stella Harper, and Mallory and Jason Brooks.
The first time I ran with Spectrum teammate, Steven Moore, I broke my big toe on the trail and he had to yank it back into place...but not before handing me one of his signature ice cold Lone Stars to chug. That’s when I knew I had found my scene! Dawn’s Running/racing bucket list Grand Teton Circ Zion Traverse Conquering the PCT with my kiddo someday!
